What is the Tata Play Fiber’s WiFi+ proposition?

WiFi+ is Tata Play Fiber’s enhanced in-home Wi‑Fi solution designed to eliminate dead  zones and deliver strong, stable connectivity across your entire home. By adding an  additional Wi‑Fi access point to your existing setup, WiFi+ ensures consistent coverage  with minimal speed loss, even in areas where Wi‑Fi signals are typically weak. 

How can I acquire the WiFi+ Service?

WiFi+ is available to Tata Play Fiber customers on eligible broadband base plans starting  from 50 Mbps to 1Gbps speeds with validity of 3, 6 and 12 months pack.

How much does WiFi+ cost?

The cost of the WiFi+ service is ₹100 per mesh device per month. Customers can  subscribe in 3-month, 6-month or 12-month add-on packs.

When does my billing period for WiFi+ start?

Billing period for the add-on service of WiFi+ starts from the date the Service Request  (SR) for hardware installation is closed, i.e., once the device is installed in your premise.

Can I take more than one router under the WiFi+ proposition?

No, currently you cannot request for more than one mesh router. However, we are  working on a solution which enables a customer to acquire more than one mesh router.

Is there a security deposit?

Coverage+ devices require no security deposit to be paid.

How long does WiFi+ add-on service remain active?

WiFi+ expiry will be aligned to your Tata play Fiber’s broadband plan expiry. If you renew  your broadband plan, WiFi+ will renew automatically and be billed along with the base  plan.

Can I cancel WiFi+ add-on and continue using my broadband base plan?

You can cancel the WiFi+ service linked to your Broadband Base plan by deactivating  the WiFi+ add-on pack through the Tata Play Fiber mobile app. 

Once the add-on pack is deactivated, our field operations team will initiate the device  recovery process from your premises after the add-on pack reaches its service expiry  date.

If I renew the base plan, does WiFi+ renew automatically?

Yes, WiFi+ renews automatically with the base plan and will be billed together.

My home still has dead spots after acquiring the WiFi+ add-on service, what should I do?

Raise a request service request through our Customer Care of Tata Play Fiber mobile  app. Our agents will guide you and if required our Field Ops or Technical Support will visit your premise for troubleshooting and to check the router placement and  connectivity.

What products or devices are included as part of the Tata Play Fiber WiFi+ proposition?

On purchasing the WiFi+ add-on, you will receive an additional TP-Link EC220-G5  router, which will be connected to your existing ONT. This helps significantly extend your  WiFi+ coverage and eliminate “dead zones” by creating a stronger, high-speed wireless  network across your home.

Will additional wiring be required during installation, and what are the associated charges?

Yes, additional wiring is required to connect the access points using a CAT6 (RJ45)  cable. 

Wiring up to 10 meters will be provided free of cost. For wiring beyond 10 meters, an  additional charge of ₹25 per meter plus applicable GST will be payable by the customer. 

What is the end-to-end deployment process for the WiFi+ solution?

Once you opt for the WiFi+ solution, the deployment is carried out in the following  steps: 

Site Survey 

Our team conducts an on-site or remote assessment to identify Wi-Fi dead zones and  any signal interference within your home. 

Based on this, the optimal locations for placing the access points are finalized, and the  existing cabling setup is evaluated. 

Physical Installation & Cabling 

Our technicians install the required hardware and connect the additional access points  to your primary router using CAT6 (RJ45) cabling.  

During this step, the total wiring length is measured, and any wiring beyond the  complimentary 10 meters is noted. 

Network Optimization & Testing 

After installation, the Wi-Fi network is optimized and tested across all rooms to ensure  strong signal strength, high speeds, and a smooth, low-latency browsing experience. 

Will the Wi-Fi name (SSID) change, or will the existing SSID continue?

The Wi-Fi name (SSID : 5 Ghz & 2.4 Ghz) will continue to be the same, devices gets connected automatically to the extended WiFi network.

Will WiFi+ affect my internet speed or performance?

WiFi+ is designed to improve Wi-Fi coverage in areas with weak signals, helping your  devices get a stronger and more stable connection with minimal speed loss. Your  overall internet speed will continue to depend on your subscribed broadband plan. With  proper placement of WiFi+ access points, you can enjoy smooth and consistent  performance across your home. For larger homes, optional wired connections can  further enhance speeds and reliability.

What is the recommended or ideal location to place the router for best coverage?

Place the router in a central, elevated, and open location. Keep it away from walls,  corners, and metal objects to avoid signal blockage. Avoid interference from  microwaves, cordless phones, or large appliances.

How many devices can be connected with Wi-Fi+ solution?

With WiFi+ solution, you can connect over 32 devices at the same time — including  smartphones, laptops, TVs, gaming consoles, and smart home/IoT gadgets.
